Fred, I like this idea of an app on my smartphone. Over time I’ve gone from trusting a paper copy of my log to trusting that same info to my Google calendar. The problem with G-calendar is the information takes a bit longer to extract (I’ve gone so far as to create a separate calendar for each professional activity I do). An app on my smartphone (backed up on my desktop) would really simplify tracking tax info.

Hello Fred, Thanks for the comment. I am currently looking to find a plugin for my website that registered users can use to track their business expenses including auto. Not sure if one is available if not I might have to develop one….

Car expenses have always been a bit of a battle to keep proper logs. There is one automatic system that I know of that is captured through your cell phone and car power outlet. I don’t have one but will be looking into it for sure. Check out http://www.odotrack.ca It is a Canadian company with reps across the nation.
